go: OLD (author's choice!)

Authors may choose up to five themes from previous [info]blind_go theme challenges that are not listed above. Round Two Themes; Round Three Themes; Round Four Themes.

The theme challenge is by no means mandatory, although we hope that it'll provide you with inspiration for your writing.

For inclusion in the theme challenge, your submission must list each theme you used. Both the author that earns the most points for a single fic and the one who earns the most points overall win be eligible for a prize. However, the winner of the theme challenge will not necessarily be the person who uses the most themes, so please don't feel obliged to cram in as many themes as you can. Rather, we hope that you will take a group of themes that you find interesting and use them to write a great story.

We will be judging your theme usage on the following criteria:

1. Frequency: how often is the theme explicitly (or implicitly) referenced in the story
2. Accuracy: how accurately has the theme been used
3. Purpose: how integral is the theme to the story
4. Execution: how smoothly the theme has been incorporated into the story
5. Creativity: how creatively the theme has been interpreted

For each theme you include in your submission, we will assign a point value from 1 to 5 for each of the above criteria. All the points for all the themes will be added up, and the writer with the highest number of points will be awarded a prize for their efforts. Since we realize that all of these criteria are highly subjective, both [info]tarigwaemir and I will do our evaluations independently and take the average to determine the point totals.

Do we pick one 'number' set of themes and write for that, or can we mix&match? Can we, if we write more than one fic, use different theme-sets for each?

(These themes rock, btw ^.^)

You don't need to pick a specific theme sets. They're just organized that way for visual presentation. You can mix&match themes for each fic you submit.

(Thanks! ♥)

Am I correct in assuming that only explicit references to each theme count, and implicit ones don't count?

Implicit references do count. Since the challenge is subjective, I can't guarantee that all implicit references will count, but Tari and I both give a lot of leeway. If you feel that you included a theme, either explicitly or implicitly, than please do list it.

Thank you!

Maybe you want to add that? Right now it says "Frequency: how often is the theme explicitly referenced in the story," which is what made me think implicit references didn't count.

Thank you for the suggestion! I've edited it to include both explicit and implicit references.
